Calgary Flames

Starting out the new year to the tune of a perfectly .500, 2-2-0 road trip, you have to wonder what the rest of January entails for the Calgary Flames. Whether it was October’s miserable 2-6-1 start, November’s strange habit for comebacks, the team going meta with that comeback concept in December by starting 1-4-2 in the first half of the month and then 4-2-0 in the second half, what is the rest of this month going to be like?

It’s possible that the pattern of winning two and then losing two continues for a bit. If that’s the case, the organization is in for a wild ride. A collective meltdown from the fanbase following an intermission interview with President of Hockey Ops, Don Maloney, on Sunday, may have been a blip on the radar or may have been a precursor for what life may be like in Calgary heading towards a March 8, 2024, NHL Trade Deadline.

As we all know, what have you done for me lately? It is a bit of an understatement regarding professional hockey in Alberta.
