Trends & Talking Points

They took that personally

The Coyotes didn’t appear to enjoy their 6-2 loss to the Flames. Arizona proceeded to pummel the Minnesota Wild to a 6-0 tune on Saturday. Nick Bjugstad put up a hat trick within the first 27 minutes of regulation time, and Connor Ingram recorded his fifth shutout in 26 appearances.

Shark Attack

Yegor “Sharky” Sharangovich will likely find himself double-covered at points during tonight’s matchup. The 25-year-old Belarusian sniper scored three on the Coyotes last Thursday. His second career hat trick.

Goalman Awarded

With two points against Vegas on Saturday, Blake Coleman brought himself within one point of tying a career-high 38 points on the season. The Texas Tiger was named the NHL’s second star of the week on Monday after scoring four goals and three assists in three games. The Flames went 3-0-0 over that span.

Minute Muncher

Noah Hanifin led all Flames players in ice time on Saturday with a whopping 23:38. That mark was 2:37 more than the next-highest player on Calgary, MacKenzie Weegar. Hanifin’s highest deployment night this season however was a 27:44 performance against the Canucks. Despite a two-goal late Calgary push Vancouver took the game 4-3.

Wolf Recalled

Goaltender Dustin Wolf has been recalled from the AHL Calgary Wranglers. Jacob Markstrom dropped out of the rotation this morning with a lower body injury and is listed as day-to-day.
