Things have been wild on the NHL trade deadline countdown, with the Calgary Flames currently the only team that hasn’t made any moves this season.

That escalated quickly. Tuesday was chaos for the league and the Calgary Flames, with NHL trade rumours becoming a reality or forever doomed to the discard pile. Watch who you believe out there on social media during these next 48 hours. Patrick Kane is finally a New York Rangers player, the Toronto Maple Leafs went grocery shopping while they were hungry, the Edmonton Oilers made a sensible deal to grab Mattias Ekholm, and NHL fans were treated to 10 trades with a side of heavy rumbling. Oh, there was a wild game in Calgary, too.

Even after that, there was a late-night deal putting a shocking end to Jonathan Quick’s career in Los Angeles. Major movement in the Pacific Division.

Calgary Flames news

The Calgary Flames deserved better than Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss against the Bruins but there was one silver lining aside from the effort. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom, new dad, looked more comfortable than he has in a while.

Elliotte Friedman has been speculating, or at least suggesting, that the Flames look at what they might get if they start selling players that are going to expire after next season.

Dan Vladar let in the first shot on goal and two in the first period before getting the hook at intermission on Tuesday. That's just the latest in the spinning wheel of goaltending that Calgary Flames head coach Darryl Sutter has had to deal with all season.

Want to know what Flames GM Brad Treliving's trade deadline history is? Calgary Hockey Now's Craig Ellingson wrote it all down for you.
