The Calgary Flames are looking internally, while the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche visited the NHL trade market for a familiar forward. Meanwhile, the Buffalo Sabres are interested in Sharks winger Timo Meier, and St. Louis Blues centre Ryan O’Reilly doesn’t want to be on the NHL trade block.

That and more in today's CHN Daily links:

Flames head coach Darryl Sutter talked for a while about his prospects on Wednesday. Not just Jakob Pelletier — who got a pretty glowing review despite the small sample size so far. Sutter is enjoying having the AHL club in Calgary so he can see who might fill the holes in the NHL in the coming months and years. The Pelletier praise was in stark contrast from his dismissive post-game summary after the prospect's NHL debut.

The Calgary Flames called up Dennis Gilbert from the AHL Wranglers Thursday morning after Wednesday's announcement that Chris Tanev would be out at least these next two games before the all-star break. That starts Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers’ win streak is over, and they’re back in a little skid, but Torts isn’t mad. Nope, John Tortorella likes what he sees from his Philadelphia Flyers.

Sportsnet: Ryan O’Reilly heard his name in the NHL trade rumours, but he doesn’t want to go anywhere.

Boston Hockey Now: So how about it — would O’Reilly fit as a Bruins trade target?

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Out until after the All-Star break — The latest on goalie Tristan Jarry.
