Flames grab Calle Jarnkrok ahead of NHL trade deadline

The Calgary Flames grew their Swedish mafia on Wednesday with the acquisition of forward Calle Jarnkrok from the Seattle Kraken.
The Flames gave up a 2022 second-round pick (FLA), a 2023 third-round pick, and a 2024 seventh-round pick for the impending unrestricted free agent. Seattle will retain 50% of Jarnkrok’s $2 million salary.
Jarnkrok, a native of Gavle, Sweden, has 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points this season. The 30-year-old played eight seasons with the Nashville Predators after being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round (51stoverall) in the 2010 NHL Draft.
Jarkrok is a versatile forward capable of playing the wing or centre position. He joins a Calgary Flames team with a strong Swedish core, including countrymen Mikael Backlund, Elias Lindholm, Rasmus Andersson, Oliver Kylington, and Jacob Markstrom.
