Calgary’s Dampy Brar is up for the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award

Co-founder of APNA Hockey, Dampy exemplifies community leadership at the grassroots level. Winner of the award is chosen by the public, so get your votes in!

Dampy Brar began playing hockey at the age of 5, in the small mining town of Sparwood, British Columbia where he was born. At 16 he started playing junior hockey; playing two years at the Junior A level in Fernie, BC. From there he went on to play college hockey in Edmonton, before playing professionally in the WCHL, as well as in the International Hockey League (IHL) with the Las Vegas Thunder.

Dampy has also represented Team India in ball hockey; 5 tournaments where he’s been the Captain and lead organizer in the program.
