The Flames were able to exact some revenge on Winnipeg, just one day after being outplayed in front of the home crowd at the Saddledome. Cam Talbot made 37 saves and Calgary got 5 past Laurent Brossoit thanks to Johnny Gaudreau and Milan Lucic.

It was Lucic who opened the scoring midway through the first, as Noah Hanifin’s point shot found its way through a mess of bodies before being deflected top-shelf on Brossoit.

Gaudreau recorded his first of 4 points on a blistering slapshot set up by Sean Monahan. The Flames’ top line finished with 8 points on the night.

Nikolaj Ehlers got the Jets on the board early in the second, before Sam Bennett restored the two goal lead, albeit briefly. Bennett broke in with Gaudreau, who found the streaking winger back door on Brossoit.

Ehlers added his second of the game just 16 seconds after Bennett’s goal, to send the game 3-2 into the second intermission. It was as close as the Jets would come, as the Flames took over the game in the third period.

The Jets were mesmerized by some Johnny Hockey magic as he danced into the slot, which left Elias Lindholm wide open at the side of the cage for an easy wrister past Brossoit.

Andrew Mangiapane took a borderline hit from Mathieu Perreault, which caused the young winger to leave the game. Milan Lucic replaced him on the second line, and paid immediate dividends. Matthew Tkachuk’s shot was unintentionally blocked off the toe of the Mark Jankowski, but fell right to Lucic, who buried his second of the game.

Nick Shore gave the Jets a little life with a goal late in the third, but Sean Monahan’s definitely-impressive-and-not-at-all-embarrassing-empty-netter would seal the victory.

Flame of the Game

Johnny Gaudreau (F): Johnny Hockey’s skills almost never come to fruition in the virtual hockey world, but tonight looked like the real guy out there. Gaudreau has 10 points in 9 virtual games so far.
