Former Flame Sergei Makarov inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame
Four new members were inducted into the HHOF on Monday
The Hockey Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2016 on Monday afternoon anointing four individuals with the honour of forever being enshrined as some of hockey's best.
Among the players inducted, was former Calgary Flame Sergei Makarov. Makorov played for four seasons for the Flames after starring as part of the Red Army in the Soviet Union. Makorov would also play three seasons with the San Jose Sharks before ending his career with a few games in Dallas.
Eric Lindros was also inducted into the Hall after playing for 13 seasons, mostly with the Philadelphia Flyers. He scored 865 points in 760 games in his career while racking up an astonishing 1398 PIM.
Rogie Vachon was the only goalie of the 2016 class and the first since Dominik Hasek in 2014. He played for 17 seaons from 1966 through to 1982. Vachon played the majority of his career with Montreal and Los Angeles with short stints in Detroit and Boston towards the end of his career.
The late Pat Quinn was also inducted under the builders category and will forever have his name as one of the greatest coaches of all time. He coached the Flyers, Kings, Canucks, Maple Leafs, and Oilers coaching a total of 1400 games while only missing the playoffs three times.
The four newest members will be formally inducted at a ceremony in November in Toronto. Congratulations to the 2016 Hockey Hall of Fame inductees.
