Take Two: Alex Tanguay Signs 1-Year/$1.7M Deal With CGY

It’s official–Alex Tanguay has returned for a second go-around with the Flames after the two parted ways at the 2008 NHL Draft, when a rift between Tanguay and then head coach Mike Keenan forced the winger out of town. Both Darryl Sutter and Jarome Iginla have praised Tanguay’s playmaking skills and lamented his absence–Iginla scored fifty goals in 2007-08 will Tanguay on his wing–and Sutter claimed that the Quebec native was skilled enough to win a scoring title. Tanguay himself scored a career-high 81 points in his first season with the Flames. While Tanguay’s numbers have dropped off in his past two seasons (just 10-27-37 and -2 with Tampa last season, although he still managed 16-25-41 in only 50 games in 08-09 with the Candiens), he fits the bill as a left-winger and a top-six forward, and for just $1.7M, he could prove to be very good value. What do you think?
