The Flames began their mini road trip with a dominating win against the New York Rangers. It was the David Rittich show, as the 26 year-old netminder was dominant in his 44-save win. Mark Giordano and Rasmus Andersson were stellar on defense as they both posted a +3. Garnet Hathaway was also a force, scoring his first and second goal of the season.

Final Thoughts:

The top line was unstoppable tonight with Johnny Gaudreau leading the way with two goals. Johnny Hockey also got his 300th NHL point. Monahan ended the night with an assist and a +2 rating. David Rittich was unstoppable tonight, an absolute brick wall from start to finish. Rittich got his 2nd win of the season, and improved his GAA to 1.30 and his SV% to .962. Rittich is even making a case for the starting job, as Mike Smith has been mediocre through 6 games.

Flame Of The Game:

Although Johnny Gaudreau scored his 300th point tonight, I have to give Flames of the Game to David Rittich. He looked like an elite NHL goalie tonight, and outplayed one of the greatest goaltenders of all time in Henrik Lundqvist. Hats off to Rittich.

What’s Next?

The Flames travel to Montreal to challenge Carey Price and the Canadiens Tuesday night.
