The Morning After: Flames Crash Back To Earth In St. Louis
Give up a hat trick, hit 3 posts, those aren’t recipes for wins.
Calgary Flames 3 St. Louis Blues 5
The Flames will have to leave their 2 game winning streak in St. Louis as they were downed by the Blues 5-3 Thursday night. The Flames had multiple opportunities to get back into the game and potentially win, but their “puck luck” was non-existent. Here’s the rest of the best that wasn’t covered in the recap or Rate The Flames.
Tidbits
-Lotsa Firsts: The Flames had some firsts in tonight’s 5-3 loss, so it’s not a total failure. James Neal scored his first goal as a Calgary Flame at 7:32 of the first period. On that goal Dillon Dube picked up his first NHL point with a helper. Not to be outdone, Derek Ryan ripped home his first goal as a member of the Flames at 8:17 of the third period.
-Tip Your Hat: It’s never good when you’re writing about another team’s player pocketing 3 goals, but you gotta hand it to David Perron. Perron scored once the 1st period and then put home 2 in the second period to get his first 3 goals of the season.
-O’fer: The Flames red hot PP was extinguished last night going 0-4 in the contest. The goose egg puts them at 5-21 on the season with the man advantage.
