The Calgary Flames are back again taking on the New Jersey Devils and this one looks dicey. The Devils come in with a foreign feeling high-powered offense and the Flames Defense has been hampered a bit thanks to an injury to Travis Hamonic. Rasmus Andersson was recalled as an emergency, but won’t play tonight – instead it will be Matt Bartkowski in the lineup with Brett Kulak while the pairing of Michael Stone and T.J. Brodie has been re-united.

Many remember the pairing for having a nice goal differential, but the underlying numbers, shots, shot attempts, scoring chances, etc., were not good. They're going to have to hope that their luck continues if they hope to be successful in this game. As for Bartkowski, he has been bad enough this year ranking dead last on the team in relative Corsi percentage and that was on his strong side.

Jaromir Jagr is also out for tonight’s game meaning Curtis Lazar stays on line three. The bottom lines have struggled mightily for Calgary and entering Jagr back in for one of the struggling Lazar, Curtis Lazar, or Kris Versteeg would have gone a long way in making up for the possession problems for the Forwards. It also would have been a chance for Jagr to play against one of his many former teams; in fact Jagr’s last game as a Devil came against the Flames in a game which saw the Flames win three to two, but also saw Mark Giordano tare his biceps.

Mike Smith is back in net for Calgary tonight. He’s been stellar for the Flames and hopefully they can get him some more offense than they’ve seen in recent contests. He’s up against Keith Kinkaid for the Devils.
