The Flames were active in the trade market again leading up to tonight’s contest versus the Florida Panthers at the Saddledome.

Using the sixth-round pick acquired yesterday in the deal that sent Tim Jackman to the Anaheim Ducks, the Flames acquired forward Lane MacDermid from the Dallas Stars this afternoon.

MacDermid, originally drafted by the Boston Bruins 112th overall in 2009, has two point in six games with the Stars so far this season. Since being drafted he has appeared in just 20 NHL games between two teams, scoring just four points. He has been assigned to the Abbotsford Heat.

Forward Blair Jones, who was recalled yesterday following the Jackman trade, will be in the lineup tonight when the Flames face the Panthers.

The Panthers started the season with wins over the Penguins and Wild in the first month of NHL action and an overtime loss to the Blackhawks, but have been struggling of late. Following an impressive 3-2 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday that left John Tortorella fuming, they fell 4-1 to the Edmonton Oilers last night. They are just 3-5-2 in their past 10 games and are in second last place in the Eastern conference with 16 points, two less than the Flames have managed to earn 22 games into the season.

The picture is not so rosy on the other side either, however. The Flames have just two wins in their past 10 games and seem to be finding ways to lose games in which they actually play well in after they blew multiple chances to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets on home ice following a series of sloppy plays in their own end in overtime. The Flames have now lost six straight games at home.

However the lineup remains much the same for the Flames tonight, with the only exception being B. Jones subbing in for TJ Galiardi, who will be a healthy scratch tonight.

Here are your projected lines and pairings for tonight's game:

Florida’s lineup is composed mostly of players who make you ask, “that guy still plays in the NHL?” however Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov should prove to be more than enough for the Flames to handle.

Bouma-Colborne-D. Jones

B. Jones-Backlund-McGrattan

Kris Russell replaces Chris Butler on the first pairing alongside TJ Brodie, and Reto Berra starts again for the Flames tonight after his impressive (read: lucky) upside-down kick save in Wednesday’s overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Berra made 16 saves in that game.

Go Flames!
