Calgary Flames
The Fox Hole: Adam Fox Collected 9 Points In 7 Games To Close The Regular Season
Yes the point totals were down from last year, but the Flames have a stud prospect in Adam Fox.
Adam Fox
School: Harvard University (Soph)
Position: Defence
Born: 2/17/98, Jericho, NY
Height: 5.10
Weight: 185
Drafted: 2016 #66 (Round 3)ย Calgary Flames
The last time we checked in with Flames defence prospect Adam Fox was in January right before the Beanpot Tournament. Fox had played in 18 games Harvard University (he took time off for the World Juniors) and his stats were about where youโd expect them for a Harvard team that was struggling. Gone was the juggernaut Harvard team and stats from Foxโs freshman season of 2016-17, but the 20 year old is still a major player in the future on the Calgary blue line.
Fox really ramped up his production in the last 7 games Harvard played in the regular season. Prior to these last 7 games Fox had only 12 points. Since that last check in, Fox has 9 points in 7 games, including his first 3 goals of the season. You have to think the folks in Calgary have kept a keen eye on that development as they look at where/when Fox fits into Calgaryโs future.
Harvard has had a rough go of it this season, going 13-12-4 and 3-3-1 in their last 7 to close out the regular season. Harvard finished 4th in the ECAC (11-8-3) with 25 points, 11 behind conference leading Cornell. The Crimson and Fox will now enter the ECAC Tournament starting March 9th as they play for their playoff lives. Harvard is on the outside looking in as they arenโt ranked in the Top 20, so a trip to the NCAA Menโs Ice Hockey Frozen Four isnโt looking good whatsoever.
Fox will have a minimum of 2 games left this season to give the Flames a solid look at him before his 2017-18 season potentially ends. Fox has had another solid season for the Crimson and to think he could repeat that phenomenal freshman season (35 games, 40 points, +19) may have been a lot to ask, especially because Harvard isnโt the same team it was last year. Either way Adam Fox is having another eye opening season at the NCAA level and had a very good showing at the World Juniors. Now the real fun begins: is Fox going to play all 4 years at Harvard or are the Flames going to place some calls to see if heโs looking to make the jump 2 years early?
