The Fox Hole: Young Adam Fox Has Been Busy As Of Late

Fox had a great WJC, but his NCAA sophomore season hasn’t been as successful as his freshman year.

Adam Fox

School: Harvard University (Soph)

Position: Defence

Born: 2/17/98, Jericho, NY

Height: 5.10

Weight: 185

Drafted: 2016 #66 (Round 3) Calgary Flames

Well, to say Adam Fox has been busy is an understatement. The Harvard University sophomore and Calgary Flames prospect has been balancing his studies, holidays, Team USA duties and manning the blue line for the Harvard Crimson. That’s a lot for anyone, especially if you’re only 19.

Fox and Harvard went on Christmas break after their 5-2 win over Princeton on December 2nd. Most college students finish off their finals and head home to be with family and friends. Not Fox. He dropped the Harvard colors and donned the colors of Team USA to play in the WJC in Buffalo. Fox and Team USA played a total of 7 games, taking home a bronze medal and he scored 1 goal and picked up 4 assists. He collected 1 game winning goal in the tournament, had 20 SOG and was a +6 overall for USA’s 7 games.

Time to rest? Nope. Fox headed from upstate NY to Cambridge MA to suit back up with Harvard after missing 4 games so he could compete with Team USA. In his absence the Crimson went 3-1, taking down Union College, Rensselaer and UVM, while falling to UMass Lowell. In the 3 games Fox has been back, Harvard has gone 1-0-2, beating Princeton 3-1, but tying both Rensselaer and Quinnipiac. He’s had one assist in those 3 contests, but he’s been on the + side of the ledger in each contest and Harvard has only surrendered 5 goals in those 4 games.

Harvard has 12 games left on the schedule before the ECAC Tournament begins and births to the NCAA Frozen Four are awarded. The Crimson are 8-6-3 and as of the last rankings, out of the Top 20. Harvard clearly has some work to do after their juggernaut season of 2016-17 and Adam Fox will have to be a big part of Harvard’s resurgence if they plan on making the post season. His NCAA numbers are down, but if you watched ANY of the WJC you know what kind of talent the Flames have in Adam Fox.
