The NHL’s newest ASG jerseys hit everyone’s eyes on Wednesday this week and the reaction has been mixed. Some people love them, some people hate them and there doesn’t appear to be an in between. The NHL, after a 2 year hiatus brought back some neon colors for the Atlantic and Metropolitan teams for 2018. The Pacific and Central look like they are wearing a leftover Flyers jersey concept (which this writer is partial to, seeing he grew up watching hockey in the 80’s), avoiding the purple and neon of their brethren in the Eastern Conference.

The ASG jerseys are always an interesting look and generate a lot of buzz when they are released. The NHL simplified them last season, but they were fairly bland. Maybe it’s time for the NHL to go back to a simple color scheme, one that worked for years on end, just with a different look every few years. At least they got the play of the game right with the 3 on 3 game play and the teams complied by division.
