The Fox Hole: As Harvard Has Improved So Has Adam Fox

Harvard has won their last 2 and coincidentally, Adam Fox has found the score sheet.

The NCAA provides an odd schedule as the December holiday season approaches and due to that, there isn’t a huge update on Adam Fox. Since we last checked in Harvard and Fox have only played twice and they are on winter break until December 29th. What can tell you is that Harvard has won their last 2 games, a 6-2 win over Quinnipiac and a 5-2 win over Princeton. The two wins saw Fox get back on the score sheet with an assist in each game and saw him climb back to the plus side of +/- in both games.

Fox and the Crimson had been struggling as they were 2-5-1 and they had a rough run heading through Cornell, Minnesota and Boston College, all ranked teams. Not that Quinnipiac and Princeton are cupcakes by any stretch of the imagination, but after losing 3 of 4 to those ranked opponents, a lighter work load was a welcome reprieve.

The break couldn’t come for the team and Fox at a better time as Harvard is in the middle of a 9 game road swing that doesn’t see them coming home until January 5th. They head to Vermont on December 29th for a tournament where they draw the always tough and climbing UMass Lowell Riverhawks and then close out with host UVM on the 30th.

Fox has fallen off his torrid pace that started the season. After 4 games he was 6th in the NCAA in points per game and #1 in assists per game. Those numbers have gone down in his last 6 games. He’s fallen to 12th in assists per game (0.90) and he’s not even in the top 50 in points per game. He’s also only taken 1 shot in his last 2 contests.
