Flames Receive Cap Penalty
The Flames are a little lighter in the wallet after receiving a cap penalty from the NHL.
The Calgary Flames took a financial hit today from the NHL according to Cap Friendly:
The Calgary #Flames have any overage penalty of $630,500 against their salary cap for 2016-17, with 7 players hitting bonuses last season.

The NHL Salary Cap for the 2016-17 season is $73,000,000. The Flames currently sit at $66,420,500 with total cap hits of $64,405,399. This leaves the Flames with a little over $8 million in free space and they still need to ink Johnny Gaudreau. The carry over penalty is from bonuses dealt out to players from last season.
