The former PC Friar defenceman was a draft pick of the Calgary Flames in 2013 and just finished his 4 year career at Providence College this spring. Gilmour was one of 3 Friars from their 2014-15 National Championship team that the Flames had drafted. He, along with Mark Jankowski and Jon Gillies were the backbone of a Friar team that dominated the NCAA on their way to a Menโs Ice Hockey National Championship.
The Flames didnโt offer Gilmour a contract, thus he became a free agent and has signed a deal with the NY Rangers for 2 years. Financial terms of the deal werenโt released. Gilmour tallied 22 goals and 65 assists in his 4 years at Providence.
