Calgary Flames
89 Champs: Where Are They Now: Tim Hunter
The Flames all time leader in PIM is now a head coach.
Tim Hunter broke in to the NHL with the Flames in 1981 and spent 11 of his 17 NHL seasons in Calgary. Hunter, no relation to Mark, was another rough and tumble Flame who spent more time in the box than on the ice. In his 11 years in Calgary Tim Hunter racked up 2405 PIM (a Flames franchise record) in 545 games as opposed to his 108 points over that time span.
Tim Hunter and the Flames parted ways after the 1991-92 season and he spent the next 6 years making stops in Quebec, Vancouver and San Jose. Hunter left the NHL after the 1996-97 season and has remained involved in hockey ever since. Heโs had 3 different assistant coaching jobs in the NHL with the Washington Capitals, San Jose Sharks and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Most recently he was named head coach of the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL in 2014 and still holds that position today.
