Matthew Tkachuk and Mark Giordano Headed to All Star Game

Tkachuk will be playing in his hometown

The NHL announced today that Matthew Tkachuk and Mark Giordano will be representing the Calgary Flames at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game. The All-Star game will take place on January 25 2020 from the Enterprise Center in St.Louis.

This is the first all-star nomination for Tkachuk who has 35 points in 40 games this year which currently leads the Flames. This also has to feel special for Tkachuk who grew up in St. Louis and will get to play in his hometown.

This will be Mark Giordano’s third all-star game appearance after participating in the 2015 and 2016 events. He was notoriously snubbed from last year’s game despite being en route to his Norris Trophy win.

As of now, this will be the first time in six years that Johnny Gaudreau won’t be in the all-star game, although fans will have the opportunity to vote him in during the annual Last Man In voting.

The Pacific Divison roster currently consists of 7F, 1D, and 2G and looks as follows:

Competing with Gaudreau in the Last Man In voting are: Ryan Getzlaf, Clayton Keller, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Drew Doughty, Tomas Hertl, Quinn Hughes, and Max Pacioretty.
