Mark Giordano Not Last Man Standing

The Flames defenceman will be watching the ASG at home.

Despite having one of his best seasons and clearly deserving of a spot on the Pacific Division roster, Mark Giordano will not be heading to San Jose. The NHL announced the results of the Last Men In vote and the Flames captain did not make the cut.

The Oilers Leon Draisaitl snagged the final spot on the Pacific roster through the fan vote ahead of Mark Giordano. To be fair, Draisaitl is having an all star caliber season. In 44 games he has 23 goals and 31 assists.

What that means is Johnny Gaudreau will be the Flames lone representative in San Jose when in reality there's three other Flames (besides the aforementioned Giordano) that could have gripes about not going to the ASG. Sean Monahan, Elias Lindholm and MatthewTkachuk all are having all star seasons, but there's only so much room on the rosters and with every team needing a representative, it cuts down on numbers.

Oh well, at least Mark Giordano can say he plays for the team in first place in the Western Conference.
