The surprisingly decent
are in town to take on the
in what might be the Flames second biggest rivalry (depending on how one feels about the
). The Canucks were expected to compete for one of the top spots in the draft lottery, but they've done quite well under new head coach Travis Green and come in 12th in the league in points percentage. Whether or not that will be sustainable remains to be seen, but they aren't a possession tire fire like they once were and there's no real data that shows that they'll collapse.
The Flames are still without the services of Travis Hamonic. Matt Bartkowski played like absolute trash in their last game, so he’s back into the lineup while Rasmus Andersson remains a healthy scratch. Jaromir Jagr is back in on the third line while Curtis Lazar moves to the fourth and Matt Stajan – the Flames possession leader of anybody on anybody in the bottom six – is out of the lineup. Count this as questionable roster management by Glen Gulutzan.
Mike Smith is back in net for the Flames tonight. The Flames carry the second best five-on-five shooting percentage in the league and that’s entirely thanks to Smith. Jacob Markstrom is expected to go for the Canucks. The puck drops at 7:05 M.S.T.
