Calgary Flames at Philadelphia Flyers (Game 24)

The Calgary Flames play two games in two different cities in back to back nights because the NHL is evil. The first of those comes tonight as they’re at the Wells Fargo Center to take on the Philadelphia Flyers. Both teams could use some help in The standings, so expect this to be tightly contested.

Kris Versteeg returns to the lineup after a one game absence displacing Hunter Shinkaruk. He’ll slide in alongside Sean Monahan and Troy Brouwer in the only lineup change to speak of. Monahan has played healthy-scratch level hockey and Brouwer hasn’t fared much better, so hopefully the addition of Versteeg gets them going.

Chad Johnson gets the start tonight in what might be a bit of a surprise. He played for half a season with the New York Islanders and many thought he’d get the start there instead. Unless he plays back-to-back nights, expect his chance to play against his former team to go by the wayside and Brian Elliott to fill in.

While The Wells Fargo Center was once a top arena in the league, that's no longer the case as the stadium is 20 years old now. Combine that with the fact that it hosted a sold-out basketball game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers and it stands to reason that the ice might not be so great tonight. Don't be surprised if this one is a wee bit sloppy.
