Fan Poll Friday: Is The Jaromir Jagr Experiment Working?

It hasn’t been easy for Jagr since joining the Flames, but is it a success, a failure or somewhere in between?

Let’s be honest, outside of me, everyone was excited for Jaromir Jagr to join the Calgary Flames. While there have been some bright spots, Jagr has spent a significant amount of time out with a lower body injury. In all fairness the fact that the 45 year old is still out there competing at the NHL level is something in itself.

He’s found himself bouncing around the Flames lineup with the only place he hasn’t skated being on the 3M Line. He looked ok on the top line with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan, but Micheal Ferland has played so well he’s entrenched there for now. Garnet Hathaway, in a cruel twist of fate, took Jagr’s spot on the Jankowsi/Bennett line and he doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere anytime soon. That leaves Jagr to play on the struggling Flames 4th with Matt Stajan and Troy Brouwer.

His numbers for the season look like this:

19 games

7 points (1G 6A)

+8 (+/-)

13:08 ATOI

Not spectacular, but again, he’s 45 and didn’t have much time to prepare for the 2017-18 NHL season. So, in effect, he’s playing himself into shape and the theory is he’s good to have around because he’s, well, he’s Jagr!

With his latest stint on the injured list, we ask you if the Jagr experiment has been a success or not. Vote in our poll below!
