The Daily Scan: Streaking Flames Eichel finalist

Published

Calgary Flames

I’m new to the National Hockey Now family but it has been ahead of the Jack Eichel trade talk for most of the last six months.

We’ve talked a lot about whether the Flames are in on it but I also looked at whether they can afford to do it.

I think it should be shared that the person behind the curtain getting sources on the Eichel stuff is Jimmy Murphy in Boston. Eichel is from the Boston area, where many people want to see Jack do well and be well. This NHL trade saga has gone on long enough. Looking forward to the resolution and let’s hope the player gets healthy and back on the ice this year.

Calgary Hockey Now: The Flames avoided the trap game in their first home contest after the long road trip and earned a hard-fought second straight 4-0 win over a team from Pennsylvania.

CHN+: This one goes back to the first week of the season but it’s worth sharing again. Jamie McLennan saw this coming from Jacob Markstrom, the ‘unicorn.’

NHL News & National Hockey Now:

Sportsnet: The NHLPA will have a reckoning with itself and head Donald Fehr on Monday. At issue is Fehr’s management of the Kyle Beach/Chicago Blackhawks scandal and if Fehr’s inaction was negligence.

Florida: Kyle Beach is affecting great change. He’s giving our Colby Guy, a new member of Florida Hockey Now, the courage to speak out. Colby was also assaulted on the job. And those people remain in power. Disgusting.

Detroit: Rookie Joe Veleno was pretty good on Saturday. And…he’s carpooling with the boss, Steve Yzerman. Guess he goes the extra mile for his players.

San Jose: One of the strangest days in Sharks history, seven players and two coaches entered COVID protocol.

Vancouver: The Canucks lost again. They’re 3-5, and the stakes are getting higher…

Washington: Sammi Silber, who photographed a bunch of Calgary Flames players when they were in Washington, did a great piece with rookie Hendrix Lapierre. The kid made the team at 19-years-old, and you can’t wipe the smile off his face.
