The Daily: Flames NHL Trade Still Possible, Pasta Wants to Stay in Boston

Published

on

It’s been talked about as nauseam locally. Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving is still actively exploring the NHL trade market for another forward. He shared that fact with Thomas Drance at The Athletic in Penticton with the Flames prospects playing in the Young Stars tournament this weekend. The Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers are all taking part in the pre pre-season action. Meanwhile, it broke in Boston today that David Pastrnak wants to stick around beyond this current season.
A word of caution to the Bruins: former Calgary Flames Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk said the same thing for months …

Calgary Flames this week

  • The Flames rebounded nicely and new defenceman MacKenzie Weegar has gone as far as saying the Flames are even better than his former team. Cue the Florida Panthers rivalry with Tkachuk.

  • An interesting element of all that is that the Flames aren’t even done shopping. Watch for another dive into the NHL trade market. After adding Johnny Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri up front, they could use another scoring winger to compete with the kids. “We’re probably still looking up front,” Treliving told Drance in Penticton. “Not only to figure out who is playing with who, but we’re still in the market for forward additions.”

  • Is the signing of Michael Stone to a PTO a sign of an impending trade for the Calgary Flames?
  • The Young Stars prospects tournament starts tonight and you can watch online. Pay close attention to Jakob Pelletier.
