The Daily Scan: Flames’ Coleman returns to Jersey, Blackhawks on trade block?

Published

on

Calgary Flames winger Blake Coleman hasn’t been back to New Jersey, where he launched his NHL career with the Devils. That changes Tuesday night, and he’s coming in hot after scoring his second of the season in a win over the New York Rangers on Monday. Meanwhile, could/should the reeling Chicago Blackhawks be looking to trade top stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews? Will Patrick Roy return to Montreal? How is Joe Thornton still producing and will he ever shave his gross beard?

Happy Scanning!

NHL Trade Chatter, News & Canada Hockey Now

NY Post: First, Larry Brooks talked about Mike Bossy’s regrets 40 years later. But then he dropped a little bombshell–when will Chicago put Toews and Kane on the NHL trade block?

Montreal: Rumors persist that Patrick Roy could be the next GM of the Montreal Canadiens. We’re here for that circus. Mitch Gallo writes…Bring it On!

Toronto: The Toronto Maple Leafs changed lines, but it didn’t help. They played better, we think? But the Carolina Hurricanes crushed them 4-1, and Toronto remains winless.

NHL & National Hockey Now

Florida (video): You can’t beat the Florida Panthers. No, seriously. It hasn’t been done yet. Maybe former Calgary Flames pick Sam Bennett is a lucky charm. The undefeated Panthers dominated Arizona 5-3 and Jumbo Joe Thornton scored his first Cats goal since leaving the sinking Leafs ship. George Richards with the Panthers postgame wrap from ice level.

Boston: In the spirit of Halloween, we offer you this candy content. Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron does not like candy corn. Does anybody? You didn’t know you needed this content.

Vegas: Yet another injured starter for the Vegas Golden Knights. The team placed Max Pacioretty on LTIR, and Vegas is in trouble. They get nearly $7 million in cap overage to spend but have lost four in a row and look lost. Maybe this is what they deserve after their offseason. No Fleury, no Reaves, Vegas is a heart transplant patient without a new heart.

San Jose: Sheng Peng returned from a grand trip through Canada, covering the San Jose Sharks’ largely successful road trip. Sheng also ate his way through Montreal. One of the many spots journalists miss not being on the road regularly. Check it out!
