Dustin Wolf +1800 to Win 2025 Calder Memorial Trophy

Flames rookie sensation Dustin Wolf is 18-to-1 (+1800) to win the 2025 Calder Memorial Trophy, according to FanDuel’s current NHL odds.
While the Flames score a league-worst 2.56 goals per game, the young netminder posts a .915 SVV% and a 2.52 GAA. Wolf’s also won 22 of his 38 appearances.
Rookie goalies rarely win the Calder Memorial Trophy, but I think Wolf has a legitimate chance to claim the award. Here’s why I think Dustin Wolf winning the Calder Trophy is worth a bet.
Wolf’s Stats Make The Case
The NHL first awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy after the 1932-33 season. Only 15 rookie goalies have won the award. Among those 15 are Terry Sawchuck, Ken Dryden, and Martin Brodeur.
The last goalie to win the Calder was Steve Mason in 2009.
The Blue Jackets rookie won 30 games that season with a 2.29 GAA and .916 SVV%. Mason’s play helped Columbus make its first postseason appearance in franchise history.
Wolf’s stats are close to Mason’s Calder-winning campaign. He has a slightly higher GAA (2.52) and lower SVV% (.915).
A Flames Playoff Birth Means Everything
The last five goalies to win the Calder Trophy all played on playoff teams. While Wolf may fall short of the award even if the Flames make the postseason, making them is a must for him to win.
I think the Flames make the dance. The Vancouver Canucks, who the Flames play tonight, are mired in a deep funk. They’re 4-6-0 in their last ten games, with a soul-crushing 4-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday.
A Flames win tonight will solidify their playoff position and may even shorten Wolf’s odds.
Tepid 2024-25 Rookie Crop
San Jose Sharks C Macklin Celebrini is the current Calder Memorial Trophy short shot, priced at -230. He’s having a fine season, scoring 20 goals and 48 points, playing on the worst team in the NHL.
Last season’s Calder winner, Connor Bedard, finished the season with 22 goals and 61 points.
Celebrini eclipsing Bedard’s 2023-24 point total would impress voters and lock in his favorite status. Yet, Celebrini plays on the NHL’s worst team. If the Flames complete the task and qualify for the playoffs, Dustin Wolf will get a lot of attention from hockey writers across North America.
Bet Dustin Wolf to Win the 2025 Calder Memorial Trophy
Calgary’s offense is the least productive in the NHL, averaging 2.56 goals per game. They have no star power and little scoring depth. The Flames’ leading scorer, Nazim Kadri, has tallied only 46 points so far.
They’re in the playoff hunt for one reason: Dustin Wolf. The fact that a rookie goaltender has a deeply flawed roster in the playoff hunt has to impress NHL awards voters.
If you believe the Flames make the playoffs like I do, then a play on Dustin Wolf to win the 2024-25 Calder Memorial Trophy at +1800 is a good value bet.
