Flames Daily: Time to rekindle Treliving to Maple Leafs rumours now that Dubas is out

Kyle Dubas will not return to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

And who will replace him as general manager? No one knows except maybe upper Toronto management.

If the Flames let the Leafs talk to Brad Treliving, however, there could be a good fit. That’s only if they allow Toronto to contact him, unlike Pittsburgh, as Treliving is under contract until June 30.

Feel the burns

MEOW-VELOUS: Guess which former Flame scored the winning goal with 13 seconds left in quadruple overtime last night to lift the Florida Panthers over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final? Not Sam Bennett.

HEY NIKITA, WAS IT COLD?: Nikita Zadorov dishes in a Russian story (translated to English) on his thoughts about the Flames’ dismissal of Darryl Sutter as coach. The Calgary defenceman liked playing for Sutter but felt he needed to go.

FRANK’S WITH CONNIE: If NHL insider Frank Seravalli were to put money on it, he’d bet the Flames would choose Craig Conroy as their next GM.

Around the NHN network

FLORIDA PANTHERS: Goalie Bob enjoyed every minute he played in the sixth-longest OT game in Stanley Cup playoffs history. Winning ECF Game 1 vs. Carolina helps bring a smile to his face, too, I’m sure.

BOSTON BRUINS: Trade surefire Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark? I suppose when a team is up against the NHL salary cap and they need to make changes after losing in round one of the playoffs following a regular season-record campaign, that’d be on the table. But Ullmark was so lights out. Do they go on their incredible run without him?

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS: So much denied permission to talk to potential GM candidates, so little time until the NHL Draft.

MONTREAL CANADIENS: So much prospects talk, so much time until the NHL Draft.

LOS ANGELES KINGS: Goalie coach extrordinaire Bill Ranford gets a promotion.
