The Daily: Flames Part of Special Night, Habs’ Anderson Still Trade Target

The Calgary Flames may have been on the wrong side but the 1,000-game tribute for Evgeni Malkin was special and historic in Pittsburgh.

The Calgary Flames have moved on to Washington, D.C., where they'll trade Sidney Crosby for Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals on Friday afternoon. They may not be talking trade as much right now but the Montreal Canadiens seem to have lots of potential suitors for Josh Anderson.

That and more in today's CHN Daily links:

Despite falling 2-1 to Sid's Penguins in a shootout, the Flames should feel pretty good about their game. Dillon Dube scored for the second straight time, and Nikita Zadorov was a beast once again.

Maybe I shouldn't have called them Crosby's Pens. it was an emotional Evgeni Malkin who thanked all involved in celebrating his 1,000th game after he stole the show.

Calgary Flames head coach Darryl Sutter acknowledged the memorable outcome as something you love to see.

“That’s the best part of our game, the honesty of our game,"  Sutter said. "They have a night for him and he’s the guy who ends up winning it for them, so good for him"
