Weekly Wrap: Emotional Week for Flames, Road Trip Continues
The Calgary Flames got a big win for Huberdeau and Weegar in Florida but it’s been a wild ride this week.


There’s never a dull moment when it comes to the Calgary Flames, but many fans lead a very busy life, meaning it’s not always possible to keep up to date with every news story.

Monday
- The game happened on Saturday night. But Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois was so angry over a trip by Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom that we wrote more on Monday. To be fair, it probably was a dirty play.
- Darryl Sutter tinkered with his lines as Jonathan Huberdeau came back from his injury, putting the star winger with centre Mikael Backlund.
- The Flames offence exploded in a major way as they scored six times in a 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Kings. We won't talk about the five against, though.
Tuesday
- Jonathan Huberdeau's relationship with head coach Darryl Sutter has been the subject of much speculation recently.
Wednesday
- The Flames have been talked about a lot in recent NHL trade rumours. But the play of Adam Ruzicka may be quieting that a bit.
Thursday
- A six-game road swing started with a disappointing loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Friday
- Morning-after analysis from starting goaltender Jacob Markstrom. He fell on the sword in Tampa.
- Jonathan Huberdeau and MacKenzie Weegar talked about the emotional return to Florida after playing for the Panthers their whole career.
Saturday
- Don't forget about the other big name in the blockbuster trade. Matthew Tkachuk talked about taking on his former Calgary Flames.
- The game lived up to the hype. Huberdeau and Weegar got the last laugh against Tkachuk and Co. Big win over the Florida Panthers.
- There was some adversity in the contest but the way the team kept clawing back to take leads was something Sutter liked.
