The Daily Scan: Flames in Leafs land, face hot Nylander

Calgary Flames Toronto Maple Leafs William Nylander John Tavares

Things aren’t getting easier for the Calgary Flames. Their third game in four nights comes against the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are heating up after a disappointing start to their season. On the heels of a tough 4-2 loss to the Canadiens in Montreal, the Flames did not skate this morning.

Not only do the Flames have to worry about Auston Matthews, but 25-year-old William Nylander is on a five-game point streak (four goals, three assists) and enters the night leading the team with seven goals, 13 points, 56 shots and four game-winners.

Nylander was born in Calgary when his dad, Michael Nylander, played for the Calgary Flames.

Oh, and it looks like the Leafs get John Tavares back, too.

Montreal: As the Flames saw first-hand, Nick Suzuki is a special player and the Habs special teams were key in their win. (MHN+)
