Ken King Passes Away at 68

Former President and CEO of the Flames has died

On a day already marked by much uncertainty, the Flames announced that Ken King, former president, ceo, and vice-chair of the organization passed away today at the age of 68.

King had been with the Flames organization with 2001 and was part of the redefinition of the franchise as it moved from a bleak future around the turn of the century into a premiere organization. He was the Flames primary spokesperson during the arena negotiations, and his legacy will live on for decades through that project.

He was also one of the central figures for the Flames during the 2013 Alberta floods, overseeing the repair of the Saddledome in time for games to begin in September. He was a massive part of the sporting community in this city, and will be greatly missed.
