Calgary got off to a slow start, allowing two goals without any response. The first goal of the game seemed to be scored off of a miscommunication between Hamonic and Ryan. Hanifin was stripped behind the net by Hoffman and there was no one covering the post to help Rittich out. Easy goal. The second goal of the game came off of a pass that should never happen in hockey. Although Keith Yandle is a powerplay mastermind, and the Flames were shorthanded, a defenseman should never be able to make an end-to-end pass. Jonathan Huberdeau scored the breakaway goal for Florida’s second goal of the game, extending their lead. Finally, the Flames had an answer. After amazing patience from Backlund, he dished the puck to the net, hitting Frolik for the deflection goal. Minutes later, Frolik gave Giordano the puck for a walk in shot showing the same patience Backlund did on the previous goal. The best goal of the game and the game winner, came from Tkachuk alone with Luongo. Frolik had the assist of the game, barely being able to keep the puck in, getting it down to Tkachuk for the easy goal. The was one of the best comebacks we have seen all year. Although the first period was a bit messy, the Flames played a great game. The Flames are back at it tomorrow evening against the Coyotes.
