D’Artagnan Joly kicks off our 2018 Top 25 Under 25 series. Joly was seleced in the sixth round of the 2017 draft and has shown some impressive growth during his first year as a Flames prospect. He just finished his third full year with Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL.

Joly put up 23 goals and 45 assists in 55 games last year, which is a 20 point jump over 2016-17 despite playing eleven less games in 2017-18. Joly led his team with 1.24 points per game and led the team with 45 assists. League-wide, his points per game today was good enough for 14th in the league.

It’s worth noting that Baie-Comeau was a mediocre team at best, so it’s pretty impressive to see Joly’s growth. They finished 13th in the 19 team league and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Halifax Mooseheads. It’s worth noting that Joly had six assists in that five game series.

Joly will be back with Baie-Comeau next year as he aims to take another step forward. As for what his future holds, he definitely looks to be a lengthier project (as with most 6th round picks), but if he continues to take some strides forward, he could take advantage of a rather depleted prospect pool on the right side.
