Our Individual Grades
MarkParkinson14: (F) I was hoping against all hope that Brouwerโs 2016-17 was an aberration and that heโd be a different player this past season. Well, that didnโt happen. Brouwer brought nothing to the table and barring an unforeseen trade or potential buyout, Troy Brouwer isnโt going anywhere. I donโt see the leadership, I donโt see the skills, all I see is Brouwer taking up space where ANYONE else could be.
MGMacGillivray: (F) I think everything that needs to be said has already been said this year.
MilhouseFirehouse: (F) Boy, just when you thought it couldnโt get any worse. Year Two of the Troy Brouwer Era actually saw him post a career low in points since playing full NHL seasons, while nearly doubling his PIMs count from last year. Mind you, the guyโs never scored more than 43 points in a year, so the 25-35 points mark is probably the best we can hope for (a point every two and a half games or so). With expectations tapered to a reasonable level, I do think Brouwer can find a good home in the bottom six moving forward if he can get his feet back under him. Of course, thereโs no such thing as tapered expectations in many peopleโs eyes when you get paid that kind of money. At the end of the day, nobodyโs taking on that contract in a straight trade, and itโs therefore a big chunk of salary for the team to eat if he were to get bought out. Troyโs an intelligent hockey personality and extremely amiable human being whoโs fallen on some extremely hard times. Like it or lump it, I think heโs here for the remainder of his contract, and keyboard complaints wonโt change that so we might as well get used to it, and hope for a minimal turnaround.
RenuSahota: (C+) ย Only really for defending himself on twitter
