MarkParkinson14: (A) Monahan’s season looks good on paper, but it’s even more amazing considering the injuries he played through. After being shelved with 8 games left in the season, it came out that Monahan was suffering from 4 different injuries that required 4 different surgeries. Even still, he set a career high in points and tied his career high in goals with 31. If that’s not a guy you want on your team, then I don’t know what to think anymore. His goals aren’t the prettiest, but he does the dirty work out front and pounces on anything that lands in his area and quickly can find the back of the net.

MGMacGillivray: (A) Before the season started, I predicted that Monahan would close in on the 40 goals this season. For most of the season he was scoring at or even above that pace before he was slowed down by four pretty significant injuries for the final month or so of the season before being shelved for the final eight games. His ability to always get to scoring positions in front has been a major benefit for the Flames, and he was even able to find another level to that this year. He upped his points per game total to 0.86 when his previous career high was 0.78 set back in 2015-16. Monahan will only be 24 by the time next season starts, so there’s still plenty of time for him to keep improving, and if last season was any indication, he’s still strongly trending upwards.

MilhouseFirehouse: (A) Monny tied his career high in goals and posted a career high in assists, and did so while fighting off some well documented injuries late in the year. Let’s not forget his feats in the GWG and OTW department, either. As a scorer opposed to a passer, I think we’re right where Monahan will likely wind up sitting most of his career for production, in the 65-75 point range. And that’s perfectly fine, because 1C’s don’t grow on trees and there isn’t a factory that pumps out free Crosby’s and McDavid’s.  I fully expect a healthy Monahan to nudge further ahead in production next year, even if only by a margin.

RenuSahota: (A) He played injured – 4 surgeries!!! Got more confident with his shots = scored more goals.  Wait til he’s at his full potential.
