Our Individual Grades

MarkParkinson14: (A) The offence wasnโ€™t there this season, but I donโ€™t care. Giordano was a shut down defender in 2017-18 and thatโ€™s what he is paid to do. Gio had one of the best seasons defensively heโ€™s had in a long time and he and Dougie Hamilton were a very solid top D pairing. His 38 points put him 7th on the team, 1 point off his total from last year and he upped his shot totals to 214 SOG, a career best. All in all, another solid season from the Captain.

MGMacGillivray: (A) The last couple years, Iโ€™ve been waiting for Giordano to start taking a step back as he gets older but he simply hasnโ€™t. He and Dougie Hamilton have continued to look fantastic together and he continues to be a great top pairing dman. Of course his point totals will likely never rival the run & gun of the Hartley era, but under Gulutzan Gioโ€™s defensive game took major steps forward and hopefully that can be continued under Bill Peters.

RenuSahota: (B) Iโ€™ve always expected more from Gio, but heโ€™s a defenseman first.ย  The Captain still contributes to the front end, lets see what him and Dougie do next season.ย

MilhouseFirehouse: (A) Oh Captain My Captain. Thereโ€™s not much to say here that Iโ€™m sure hasnโ€™t already been said. At the minimum, heโ€™s effective in every scenario heโ€™s placed in, and at the max he excels in them. Gio is a complete five tool defenseman and a consumate leader, and that is backed up by his litany of contributions off the ice, in the community and in the locker room. Carry on, Cap, carry on.
