MarkParkinson14: (D) I hated this move before it happened for a bunch of reasons and all those reasons came to fruition during the season. Jagr came to the Flames AFTER training camp and AFTER the season started. He looked old and he should, he is. He never fit into the Flames lineup. He was constantly hurt. The idea made some sense: bring in the vet, have him mentor the kids, he chips in some on offense, he sells some jerseys, everyone wins! Not so much. In 22 games with the Flames Jagr had 7 points and the union between the 2 ended with his release in January. Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

MGMacGillivray: (C+) I was really excited when the Flames signed Jagr, but it’s no surprise that after missing camp that he took some time to adjust. In the stretch of games before he started getting injured I thought he actually played quite well, but unfortunately recurring injuries slowed down and eventually ended his time in Calgary. I still think he was a better bottom six option than pretty much any other botom six forward this season outside of Jankowski and Bennett.

It was remarkably special to potential see his last NHL action and have it be in a Flame uniform. The move was low risk, high reward, but even just having on the team for the few months that they did will likely leave a lasting impact on some of these young players for the rest of their careers.

RenuSahota: (B+) I’m just happy that the Calgary Flames were the Canadian team that #68 dressed for. He still showed that he had the skill and conditioning, but was ultimately slowed by age. Got to love the fun Jags brought to the games, and at least he got 7 points before using the trap door exit.

MilhouseFirehouse: (C) It wasn’t exactly a dream “final run” contribution scenario for Jagr, as he was never able to get out of second gear on the ice and saw an early exit after 22 short games. What the Great 68 did contribute was much more off the ice, advising the younger talent on the Flames and particularly pushing Gaudreau to chase a scoring title. And hey, those number 68 sweaters were the hottest selling ticket in town for a good stint, and I won’t tell you it at least wasn’t a fun experiment having Jagr around.
