Calgary Flames
The Morning After Vegas
Calgary took it to the Pacific Division Champs Saturday night.
Hereโs the rest of the best of what wasnโt covered in our Recap or Rate The Flames from Calgaryโs 7-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Johnny Gets 60
Johnny Gaudreau collected an assist on Mark Jankowskiโs first goal of the evening giving him 60 helpers on the season. The 60 assists are a career high, topping his previous high of 48 during the 2015-16 season. The 60 is also notable as he is the first Flames player to collect 60 assists since Theo Fleury (66) did it back in 1992-93.
Jankoโs 4
Mark Jankowskiโs 4 goal effort Saturday night pushed his totals for his rookie season to 25 points (17G 8A). The 4 goal effort was the first time a Flames player had a 4 goal outing since Sam Bennett got 4 past the Florida Panthers back in 2016.
Matt Stajan Swan Song?
Matt Stajan centered the Flames 4th line per usual, but it could have been the last time he had that duty and he may have collected his final point as a Calgary Flame. At 10:27 of the second period Stajan collected an assist on Garnet Hathawayโs 4th goal of the season. The 34 year old NHL veteran is set to become a UFA now that the season is over. Stajan has been a good soldier for the Flames over his time here, but is he a guy the Flames bring back this off season?
POWER PLAY GOAL!
Granted 1-5 is nothing to brag about, but at least Calgary FINALLY scored with the man advantage. Mark Jankowskiโs 4th and final goal of the night at 1:32 of the 3rd period was the first time the Flames scored a PPG since March 7th.
