Calgary Flames CHL Prospect Update
The first round of CHL Playoffs concluded on Tuesday night
QMJHL
DโArtagnan Joly – Baie Comeau Drakkar
Joly had a pretty good playoff series for Baie Comeau as he put up 6 assists in 5 games before his squad was eliminated by the Halifax Mooseheads. Joly has reported to Stockton to end the season.
OHL
Adam Ruzicka – Sarnia Sting
Ruzicka had a pair of assists for the Sting as they took down the Windsor Spitfires in six games to advance to the second round. They now take on the Kitchener Rangers starting on Friday.
WHL
Dillon Dube – Kelowna Rockets
Dube had an eventful series to say the least, being ejected in two of the four games in the series before his Rockets were swept. Dube had a pair of goals in the series but it was not enough as the Rockets couldnโt overcome his absence. Dube has also reported to Stockton for the remainder of the season.
Juuso Valimaki – Tri City Americans
Valimaki and the Americans made quick work of the Rockets, dispatching them in four games while putting up a whopping 24 goals in those four games. Valimaki had a goal and three assists in those games. Tri City will face Victoria in Round 2.
Glenn Gawdin – Swift Current Broncos
The Broncos scrapped and clawed with the Regina Pats for seven games and managed to squeak out a 3-2 win in Game 7 to advance. Gawdin scored the series winning goal in game 7. He also had 5 goals and 6 assists in the series as part of the high flying Broncos top line. Gawdin and the Broncos will take on the Moose Jaw Warriors in Round 2.
Zach Fischer – Spokane Chiefs
The Chiefs staved off elimination in Game 5 by scoring with 30 seconds left and winning in OT. The Chiefs then made it to Game 7 where they were ultimately eliminated by the Winterhawks. Fischer had 2 points in the series and itโs yet to be decided where heโll end the season.
Matthew Phillips – Victoria Royals
Phillips was an endless highlight reel in the series which included him putting up four points in Game 6 and three in Game 7 including the series winning goal. Phillips put up a whopping 16 points in 7 games which put him in a tie for the league lead after Round 1. Phillips will take on Juuso Valimaki and the Tri-City Americans in Round 2.
