Hereโ€™s the rest of the best of what wasnโ€™t covered in the Recap or Rate The Flames from Calgaryโ€™s 1-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Smitty On Point

After a less than perfect game in his first game back against the Islanders, Mike Smith was stellar against Edmonton last night. Smith stopped all 28 shots that came his way. The 1-0 blanking of Edmonton was his 3rd shut out of the season and got him his first win over Edmonton as a member of the Flames.

Johnny Gaudreau Personal Best

Gaudreauโ€™s second period goal gave him is 80th point of the season (22G 58A) which is the first time he has hit 80 points in his young career. He is 1 point away from being 20 points better than he was last season and his career high prior to this season was his 78 point effort in 2015-16.

Speaking Of Winning

Calgary FINALLY beat the Oilers. Glen Gulutzan and the Flames were 0-7 against Edmonton coming into this contest and Johnny Gaudreauโ€™s second period goal was the difference in the contest. The win also evens up the Flames record at 5-5-0 in their last 10 home games against Edmonton.

McDavid Streak Over

The Flames ended 2 Connor McDavid streaks tonight in their 1-0 win over the Oilers. Connor McDavid had a 7 game streak with at least a point this season that Mike Smith and Co. stopped tonight by keeping him off the score sheet. He had 5 shots on goal, but Mike Smith wasnโ€™t in a giving mood. They also ended McDavidโ€™s 4 game points streak against the Flames as well.

Playoff Update

The Flames got 2 points last night with their win and that moved them within 2 points of LA, Dallas and Colorado. Theyโ€™re also 3 back of the San Jose Sharks who just happen to be their next opponent.
