Fort Wayne Komets (Independent)

Cincinnati Cyclones (Nashville)

Quad City Mallards (Las Vegas)

Kalamazoo Wings (Vancouver)

Indy Fuel (Chicago)

Kansas City Mavericks (Calgary)

Toledo Walleye (Detroit)

This will be the Mavericks first season in the Central Division after spending last season in the Mountain Division. Their 33 wins last season still would have seen them on the outside looking in with regards to the playoffs. The top 3 teams that made the playoffs from the Central all had 38 points or better, with the 51 point Toledo Walleye winning the league’s regular season Brabham Cup. No team from the Central went on to win the Kelly Cup, but that doesn’t mean this will be an easy ride for the Mavericks. The Central Division last season was much tougher than the Mountain Division, but the Mavericks fared well when playing out of their division. All things being equal, anything can happen from season to season. Players get traded, retire, leave via free agency or get cut. The Mavericks finished 3 games above .500 last season and will look to improve upon that record in 2017-18.
