Preseason 3/7: Flames vs Canucks Preview & Lineups
It’s bubble night at the Saddledome
The Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks will square off in pre-season action tonight at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Both teams are playing their third game of the preseason with the Flames having an 0-2 record, and the Canucks coming in at 1-1. Vancouver’s most recent game was a 9-4 dismantling at the hands of Golden Knights while Calgary lost a pair of split-squad games to Edmonton on Monday.
Decisions have started being made in Calgary as they knocked 21 players off their camp roster on Tuesday, but there were no surprises among the players cut. Tonight’s game will be mostly about giving all the bubble players a chance to prove themselves as most of the Flames core is out of the game.
Vancouver will also be icing a very young lineup themselves, but that’s because the majority of their NHL stars are off playing the Kings in China right now. This tweet by Ryan Pike sums up tonight’s game perfectly.
Anyways, here’s your starting lineup for tonight’s game against Vancouver:
Forwards
Marek Hrivik – Mikael Backlund – Michael Frolik
Andrew Mangiapane – Mark Jankowski – Kris Versteeg
Joseph Cramarossa – Curtis Lazar – Spencer Foo
Ryan Lomberg – Dillon Dube – Tanner Glass
Defence
Juuso Valimaki – Michael Stone
Brett Kulak – Matt Bartkowski
Rasmus Andersson – Oliver Kylington
Goalies
Jon Gillies
Tyler Parsons
It’ll be very interesting to see how Mangiapane and Jankowski do with Versteeg on their wing tonight. Spencer Foo also gets to make his Saddledome debut. Dillon Dube had a solid opening game against Edmonton, and we’ll see how he does tonight with two grinders on his line in Lomberg and Glass.
Once again, tonight is all about the bubble players so keep an eye out for who impresses you. Puck drop is at 7:00pm MT from Scotiabank Saddledome and luckily tonight’s game should be televised!
